Rehabilitation following an accident
Where psychological treatment is recommended in the context of a personal injury claim Cyclotherapy has a network of psychologists and other therapists qualified to offer evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). All practitioners are “bike friendly” in that they are aware of the specific needs of both leisure and competitive cyclists and are able to direct treatment accordingly to ensure success.
Treatment in therapy can be directed at very specific targets, such as cornering or weather /traffic conditions. Cyclists often mistakenly believe that they will have to "live with" the changes in their riding after an accident by making adjustments, when in fact effective therapy can restore riders' pre accident capabilities. Therapy though Cyclotherapy ensures that these matters important to cyclists are not missed.
Cognitive rehabilitation is also available where this is recommended following a neuropsychological report in cases of head injury. We are unfortunately not able to carry out neuropsychological assessments.
